The Catalina
Palm Springs, CA
For the design of The Catalina I opted for a playful, nostalgic take on a classic Palm Springs motel. Inspired by mid century travel and the easygoing spirit of the desert, the visual identity leans into warm, sun faded colors of coral, dusty pink, turquoise, olive, and golden yellow paired with creamy neutrals to give everything a vintage, poolside feel. Hand drawn illustrations of palm trees, cocktails, mountains, and the motel itself bring a sense of place and personality, while bold retro typography gives the brand a distinctly Palm Springs character. Across everything from key tags and matchbooks to door hangers and postcards, the system embodies an upscale boutique Palm Springs motel. The result is a brand that feels nostalgic, playful, and a little cheeky.
